" Blessed are those who mourn , for they shall be comforted " (Matthew 5:4 ). Jesus's listeners were no strangers to mourning. They had suffered great tragedy and hardship as a people, and as individuals. They knew what it meant to mourn, and even practiced ceremonial morning. But when Jesus spoke these words that day, no doubt, the power of the Holy Spirit touched each listener In that hollow place of the heart were ultimate morning exist. Separation from God because of sin causes morning in our soul that is too deep for words. That separation causes such emptiness and pain, that those who experience that will often attempt to self medicate through distraction, vain pursuit of pleasure, or even drugs. But only when we acknowledge and embrace the mournful state of our sinful hearts, can we find the comfort of our redeemer. Our godly sorrow leads us to repentance ( 2 Corinthians 7:9-11 ). I have some bit of experience in that mournful state. I have traveled a road that has led me through a life of too many women , too many drugs, rock n roll, I dabbled in the music business for awhile, way too much alcohol. I was living in total rebellion. I was trying to fill that mournful state, that hollow place in my heart. It seems like a lifetime ago since Christ came and helped me to understand that I was never going to fill that hole apart from Him. When I began to confront myself with my sins, I discovered the true meaning of blessed are those who mourn ; when I began to feel some of the tremendous weight of my sins. Then I knew what it meant to be mournful for my sins, which led me to yearn for the freedom, grace and forgiveness that can only come through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The blessing is not upon all who mourn, but those who mourn regarding sin They shall be comforted by the discovery and appropriations of God's pardon. But all mourning is traced directly or indirectly to sin. We may take it, therefore, that in is broadest sense the beatitude covers All those who are led by morning to a discerning of sin, and who so deplore, its effects and consequences in the world as to yearn for and seek the deliverance in Christ. Brothers and sisters, we must truly search our hearts and realize who we really are. We are desperately evil for scripture says that man's heart is evil above all else. Once we realize who we truly are at heart, only then can we begin to understand our sin, face it, and be mournful of it. I Will pray that each of us may truly understand, and begin to truly mourn our sin, which will lead us to a place where we will begin to Hate and dread our sins. There is another way, and that way is Jesus Christ. He will not only help us to understand and face our sin, but He will also show us mercy. He is also the way that leads to forgiveness of our sins , and a richer and fuller life in this life and the next. I love you all and will always remember to pray for you all. May God bless you and keep you safe.
